God the Father

There is only one God, however mankind has the propensity in his heart to worship a god. So he serves whatever he thinks can help him in his life. That is why there are so many so-called gods in the world. But the Bible is very clear, there is only one God and He in reality is the one and only God. Since God is Holy, no one can presume to approach Him on their own merits. So God in His sovereignty, decided that He would reveal Himself to mankind in three different forms but still being just “One God”.

God inhabits eternity, He created time and space for His own pleasure. In this place of “time and space” He created the “heavens and the Earth” (Genesis 1:1) (Please read the whole chapter). On this planet that we call Earth is where He put the man that He wanted to create in His own Image. We read in Genesis that God visited the man that He had created to have fellowship with him (Genesis 3:8) (Please read the whole chapter). The place that this took place was the garden of Eden. God visited with him every day to enjoy his company. At that time, there was no sin in the world and God and man could interact together.

Now God is spirit, so God had to take another form in order to interact with the man, and that form was Jesus. In theological terms, this is known as a theophany. A theophany is where God visited a person, and it was in the form of Jesus that He did so. There are many places after the fall of man, where God would appear to a man in the form of Jesus. Like at the judgment of Sodom and Gomorrah, 3 angels appeared to Abraham (Genesis 18:1) (Please read the whole chapter). One of them was Jesus as a theophany of God. Another is where Jacob wrestled with a man all night until daybreak (Genesis 32:24-30) (Please read the whole chapter) This was another example of a theophany of God being Jesus, as He wrestled with Jacob and changed his name to Israel. Some even think that Melchisedec was a theophany of Jesus (Genesis 14:18) (Hebrews 11) (Please read both the whole chapters). But the most prominent theophany of Jesus is in the garden of Eden, when He communed with Adam and Eve face to face (Genesis 2:16-18; 3:8) (Please read the whole chapters).

This is the way that God the Father decided to visit His creation because as Spirit in eternity He wanted away to commune with people, and this is one of the ways that He did it. The other way is through the Holy Spirit by writing the Holy Bible for us.
