The Law and Feast Days of Israel

A bunch of Christians feel like they should or want to keep the law or the feast days in the law of Moses. But it’s impossible to keep them, because if you offend in one you offended all the law. If a person thinks God will be pleased by keeping them, please read and believe the New Testament (Covenant). No one was ever pronounced righteous under the law of Moses. No one!

James 2:10-11(KJV) (Please read the whole chapter)

10.For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. 11.For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. Jesus said in Matthew 5:27-28

27. Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 28. But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

That in itself shows James to be correct and we cannot keep the law to be saved. So why are some trying to keep the law and feast days. It is good to know about them, because they point to Jesus. Everything in the law points us to Jesus. So it is good to have the knowledge contained in the law but not for keeping it unto salvation.

Here’s what Jesus has to say about keeping the Law.

Matthew 5:17-21;27-28 (KJV) (Please read the whole chapter)

17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

21 Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Jesus says He came to fulfill the law because we can’t… He did. We must put our faith in Him and Him alone. Trading our sin for His Sinlessness. The law was put in place temporarily until the fullness of time (Gal. 4:4-5), waiting for Jesus to come which was what God planned the whole time.

The books of Galatians and Romans is very clear on what Gods plan has been. (and the whole Bible) God in His word, has made it very clear on what He expects of people. The book of Galatians is a good place to get a solid grounding in what He wants from us.

Galatians 3:16-26 (ESV) (Please read the whole Book).

16. Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, “And to offsprings,” referring to many, but referring to one, “And to your offspring,” who is Christ. 17. This is what I mean: the law, which came 430 years afterward, does not annul a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to make the promise void. 18. For if the inheritance comes by the law, it no longer comes by promise; but God gave it to Abraham by a promise.

19. Why then the law? It was added because of transgressions, until the offspring should come to whom the promise had been made, and it was put in place through angels by an intermediary. 20. Now an intermediary implies more than one, but God is one. 21. Is the law then contrary to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given that could give life, then righteousness would indeed be by the law. 22. But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

23. Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed. 24. So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. 25. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, 26. for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

Now as to regarding a specific day to keep, Paul in Romans says it’s ok. Go ahead and keep a special day as long as your not depending on doing so for salvation.

Romans 14:5-6 (ESV) (Please read the whole chapter)

5. One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6. The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God.

As Paul says, if you keep the day , keep it to the Lord, and Jesus says don’t do it to be seen by men (Matthew 6).

Please don’t be mislead into thinking you can keep the law and feast days and get into Gods good graces, because you can’t that way. If you keep them, just do it because you want to, and don’t do it so other people can see you doing it so they will think your really holy. Or because you think somehow it will save you, it can’t and it won’t.

There are a few Churches that believe the Church has replaced Israel in the economy of God, that is entirely wrong. (I have written other articles about that subject, you can find them in my other website (www.todayinprophecy.com)) That is one reason some Churches want to keep the feast days. God will fulfill all the promises He gave to Israel, which is still in our future. Even the last remaining feast days will come to past, but they are in Israels future, not the Churches.

Trust in Jesus and Him alone!!!
