The Marvelous Name of Jesus

Philippians 2:5-11 (KJV) (Please read the whole chapter)

5. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6. Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7. But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8. And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

9. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11. And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

 Ephesians 5:20 (KJV) (Please read the whole chapter)

17. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

18. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

19. Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

20. Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

When I’m in a fellowship of Christians and someone has been asked to pray and they end their prayer with these words “in your name we pray or I pray in your name”. I have to say “stop”, “wait”. “time out”, then I have to say, who are you talking to? Prayer for a Christian is between that person and our Heavenly Father, or for the fellowship of believers that are present.

Now I don’t know that person’s heart, so I don’t know who they’re talking to. If you’re talking to our Heavenly Father, when you end your prayer say “in the name of Jesus” not “ in your name”, that’s what the scripture say we are to do. (I have listed them below) Nowhere in the scripture does it say to end your prayer with “in your name we pray”.

Are you ashamed to say the name of Jesus? I hope not. But since I don’t know your heart, I can’t say amen at the end of your prayer. Since I really don’t know who you’re talking to, unless you say, “in the name of Jesus I pray”. If you say that, I can then say “amen” because I’m in agreement with you.

So I ask you to please, if you’re talking to our Heavenly Father say “in the name of Jesus”, so I can say “amen” at you’re prayer. Jesus said in John, ask the Father in My name, and He will give it to you, He didn’t say ask the Father in “your name I pray”. He said, ask in my name, and His name is Jesus and He will give it to you. What Jesus was saying, is to speak His name before our Heavenly Father, because that is the only way we are accepted before Him, and that through the blood of Jesus.

I hope this is making sense to you. I truly believe that some prayers are not answered because of this very thing, and that is we’re not coming to the Heavenly Father through the name of Jesus. Now, if you’re reading this, I think you’ll agree that you want your prayers answered by our Heavenly Father. So if He’s given us instructions on how to approach Him, don’t you think it would be in our best interest to come to Him the way He says to come before Him. I think you would agree, that you want your prayers answered or you wouldn’t have asked. This world would be a better place if we will do these things according to the way, God said to do them in His word, the Holy Bible. Here are the scriptures that I’m talking about that will show you how to receive the answers to your prayers.

John 14:13 (KJV) (Please read the whole chapter)

 13. whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

John 15:16 (KJV) (Please read the whole chapter)

16. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

John 16:23 (KJV) (Please read the whole chapter)

23.in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

John 16:26 (KJV) (Please read the whole chapter)

26. At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:

Here is a good example of how this is done. Not many days after Jesus was resurrected, Peter and John are walking into the temple. They see a beggar at the gate, that is begging for money. And Peter says to him, I don’t have any money but what I have I’m giving to you and then he says “in Jesus name” rise and walk. You may be thinking that, “that’s not a prayer” but the illustration that I am making is that, Peter and John were doing what Jesus told them to do, speak the name of Jesus. If speaking, the name of Jesus can do this, just imagine how much more speaking the name of Jesus will do for answering your prayer. I say imagine, but if you speak the name of Jesus in your prayer, you’ll see it and won’t have to imagine it.

Acts 3:6. (KJV) (Please read the whole chapter)

6. But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!”

Why is this important?

Philippians 2:9-11 (KJV) (Please read the whole chapter)

9. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11. And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Acts 4:12 (KJV) (Please read the whole chapter)

12. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

There is no other name in the entire universe, more powerful than the name of Jesus. There is salvation in His name, there is healing in His name, there is deliverance in His name. His name is Glorious, and that is why we as Christians should use the name of Jesus in our prayers and our daily lives.

Please respect and honor the name of Jesus and His Word. Do what the Bible says. Speak the name of Jesus in Faith and you will see the results that you need, when you do what the word says.
