What Happens When We Die?

Why do I believe in the Holy Bible so strongly, the answer to that is simple, and it is Bible prophecy. I’ve studied Bible prophecy for over 50 years. The prophecies that have been fulfilled already, happened 100% as they were written. So I believe that the ones that have not yet come to pass, will also be fulfilled 100% as they were written. If the Bible is that accurate on prophecy, then I believe the other things the Bible has to say are also 100% accurate.

So what happens when we die? The Holy Bible is very clear about what happens when we die. The Holy Bible gives no credence to reincarnation, soul sleep, or annihilation. These false teachings are not in the Holy Bible. When every person was born into this world, they became an eternal soul. They will spend eternity after this life in one of two places, heaven or the lake of fire.

Here is what the Holy Bible has to say.

Hebrews 9:27-28 (ESV) (Please read the whole chapter)

27. And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, 28. so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.

Those of us that are waiting for Jesus to come back and take us to Himself, are eagerly waiting His return for us in the rapture. He will come for all Christians and take them out of this world at the rapture. He will only be taking those that belong to Him because they’ve accepted Him as their savior. After the seven year tribulation, He will return in all His glory to rule and reign on this earth for 1000 years, then the end will come for this world. After the 1000 years. God will then create a new heavens and a new earth.

Now here is what the Holy Bible says about every person when they die. There are only two categories of people on the Earth. God’s people and those that have rejected Him. You may say, “I have not rejected him”, but if you have not accepted Jesus as your savior then you have rejected Him by default. You must choose Him.

God’s people go to heaven with Him and those that have rejected Him go to the lake of fire. The Lake of fire was actually created for the devil and his angels, but those that reject God, will be sent there also. (Revelation 20:15) Here’s what happens when a Christian dies.

6. So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, 7. for we walk by faith, not by sight. 8. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

Here are same more verses to show that when Christians die in this world they go to be with Jesus immediately

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (ESV) (Please read the whole chapter) 

13. But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 14. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. 15. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18. Therefore encourage one another with these words.

These are verses that every Christian should rejoice over, we should be ecstatic about what God has done for us. Fear of death should flee away from us because we know the instant we die we are with Jesus in heaven. A Christian on their deathbed should rejoice over the fact that in mere moments he will be looking into the face of Jesus, the One who saved him by His grace. But what about the unsaved. The Bible has this to say.

Revelation 20:11-15 (KJV) (Please read the whole chapter) 

11. And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

What more can we say? The Holy Bible is very clear about this subject. Everyone that refuses to accept Jesus as their savior will wind up at this judgment, and when the books are opened, they will be found guilty of rejecting God. They then will be cast into the lake of fire forever. That’s for eternity, why would you want to go there? It is a place of eternal fire. There’s no way to “sugarcoat” this. It is very serious.

If you think you have time left to decide then you are playing with your eternal destiny. The Holy Bible says “today is the day of salvation” that means right now, you may not have tomorrow. So I ask you to please ask Jesus to be your savior today so that you may spend eternity with God in heaven. God has done everything for you, now you must choose. I ask this question, why would you wait? God is love, and He wants you to be with Him in heaven, but He’s placed that choice in your hands. Now you have to choose, choose life. Choose Jesus to be your savior today. You won’t regret it.

Pray this prayer, 

“Heavenly Father, I come to you in Jesus name. Jesus, I accept you as my savior. I accept the fact that you gave your life on the cross to save me, and the blood that you shed on that cross has taken away all my sins, thank you. I ask you to come into my life and help me live for you for the rest of my life. I ask you to give me that assurance that I belong to you for all of eternity, in Jesus name, Amen.”
