( All verses are from the KJV Bible)
Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. …
As we open the Holy Bible, we find in the very first sentence that the Holy Spirit is mentioned. As we read the rest of the Bible His presence is everywhere on every page. In many instances, we find that the Holy Spirit comes on the people He wants to use for God’s purposes. Rather that would be for mighty works or for writing the scripture itself, the Holy Spirit would use them with their consent.
But we find something different in the New Testament. Jesus said He would be in us. Jesus also said, wait for the promise of the father and you would be indued with power from on high.
He is in us; Acts 2:4
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Wait for Him; Acts 1:4
And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
Once the Holy Spirit was given, we have the the start of something new, it is called the church age. Now the Holy Spirit resides within His people. He just doesn’t come on us for a period of time and then leave, He lives in us. Jesus said he would help us, comfort us, tell us of things to come, and guide us into all truth.
If the Holy Spirit is in us, people notice that there is something different about us, then other people. It is our responsibility to act like Jesus in every aspect of our life. Read John 16:7-13 Very carefully. This is what happens when people since that we are different then others. So we must love them as God does and tell them the truth about eternity. When we are full of the Holy Spirit, He will draw all people to Himself.
We have added other scriptures here for you too read, and we only ask that you would read the whole chapters so you can get the full context of what’s being said. Read John 14, 15, 16, and you will find what Jesus says about the Holy Spirit and what He will do for us.
John 14:26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 7:38-39
38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
John 16:7-13
7. Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9. Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10. Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11. Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
12. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
In verse 7, Jesus is saying the comforter is the Holy Spirit that He would send. The rest is speaking about His mission in His people, to show the world Gods love. It is our responsibility to stay full of the Holy Spirit, so the world will know that God loves them.
